Seamark Workshops

Special Events Summer 2003

On Saturday, June 14 Seamark Workshops will be part of the Lupine Festival at the DI/S High School sponsored by the Deer Isle/Stonington Chamber of Commerce. We will have our badge making machines up and running and hope everyone will come by to make their own small piece of wearable artwork to commemorate the day. We will also have colored chalks for sidewalk murals. Come leave your mark at this second annual event! Summer info and schedules will be available.

On Sunday, July 13, join us for our annual trip from Stonington to Rockland via mail boat. Approximately 40 people enjoy the two-hour trip with stunning marine views. We have about four hours in Rockland to visit the Farnsworth Museum and/or the North Atlantic Blues Festival, have lunch and shop. Rain date is July 28.

From July 14-18, Seamark is co-sponsoring the first Island Arts Camp with Opera House Arts and the Reach Performing Arts Center. This camp will kick off the Island Family Theater Arts Project a series of workshops and performances designed to educate and entertain participants and audiences of all ages. Funding for IFTAP has been provided by the Margaret Burnham Charitable Trust and the Maine Community Foundation's Hancock County Fund. See our programming pages for more information on workshops and the Opera House's website for performance schedules.

On Sunday, August 17 from 4-6 p.m. at the Edgewood Farm on Pressey Village Road in Deer Isle, Seamark will hold its annual fundraising event. This year we will be auctioning off bowls created, decorated and/or altered by area artists. This is a great chance to buy a piece from your favorite artist(s) and support Seamark's programming throughout the year. Please come to this social event/exhibition/silent auction complete with hors d'oeuvres and treats made by the Seamark Board. Check here later in the summer for a list of participating artists.
